RESOLUTION NO 3364
A RESOLUTION OF THE TOWN COUNCIL OF THE TOWN OF TIBURON
r- APPROVING OF THE UTILIZATION OF SUPPLEMENTAL LAW ENFORCEMENT
FUNDS "COPS" MONIES IN FISCAL YEAR 1999-2000
WHEREAS, Assembly Bill 3229, signed into law as Chapter 134, Statutes of 1996,
establishes the Citizens Option for Public Safety (COPS) Program; and
WHEREAS, the Town Council, at a public hearing held annually in September, must
approve of a plan for the expenditure of Supplemental Law Enforcement Funds (COPS), and
WHEREAS, the Town Council of the Town ofTiburon, at its regular meeting held on
September 16, 1999, approved the following:
(1) The recommendation of the Police Department to utilize available and uncommitted COPS
monies to participate in the Countywide Emergency Telecommunications Equipment
Upgrade (MERA), estimated at an ongoing annual cost to the Tiburon Police Department
of$14,200 (and at $8,000 in FY 2000).
(2) The recommendation of the Police Department and Finance Director to further allocate
available and uncommitted COPS monies to purchase mobile video camera units for
installation in patrol unit vehicles, currently estimated at $5,500 per unit.

The recommendation of the Police Department to allocate $1,000 in COPS funds to
support ongoing operating and maintenance costs associated with mobile computer units
previously purchased with COPS funds.
NOW, THEREFORE, IT IS RESOLVED by the Town Council of the Town of Tiburon
that Staff is directed to submit this Resolution - which approves of the recommended plan for the
expenditure of COPS monies in FY 2000 - to the County Supplemental Law Enforcement
Oversight Committee for their review and consideration.
